tapeball permutations

I’ve put the balls away for now. The prospect of forever rearranging them was not an attractive one. So instead, here are all the unique sequences as text…

a three ternary digit alphabet

I was tempted to use the obvious and correct abbreviation for ternary digit in the title, but ‘a three tit alphabet’ would have just been a cause of tittering and laughter 😉

Anyway, this short video (35s) steps you through all 27 states of the ‘three tit tapeball alphabet’ (you see the innuendo gets worse, with tit and ball in the same title!).

The sequence is a little jumpy as it was produced using my iPhone, without a tripod, but with the aid of Animate It! app.

As so often happens, once an enquiry has commenced, another parallel or tangent enquiry suggests itself. Sometimes these ‘suggestions’ just have to be followed immediately, when they may feedback and inform the original enquiry, or take over and replace it entirely.

I was organising the tapeballs and a three digit ternary code became an obvious must have parallel to the tapeball enquiry. 3 digits with each digit having the possibility of three coloured balls gives me my usual 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 alphabet tiles.

Here we have the alphabet map in digital form.

Coming next, an animated GIF of the tapeballs sequenced as per the ternary alphabet grid.

At least that is the plan as I write…
